Quality
The clarity of information contained within a friction ridge impression.

Qualitative
Concerned with quality or fundamental form and construction.

Quality/Quantity Relationship
The two factors that combine in an inverse relationship to form the basis for determinations 
of suitability or sufficiency of a friction ridge impression. The more quality that is present, 
the less quantity is necessary, and vice versa.

Quality Assurance Measures
General procedures to ensure a quality product.  

Quality assurance measures for the comparative process may include:
-specific principles (do not ignore what does not fit, try to falsify your conclusion, 
look for other possible conclusions)
-a criteria for data used (only use objective data that can be demonstrated to others)
-a criteria for conclusions (point standard, conclusions that holdup to scrutiny) 
-the tests performed (verification or blind verification for reproducibility, independent 
examinations)
-tools utilized (consultation, AFIS, processing methods, enhancement methods)
-reviews performed (administrative, technical, peer review, verification as a review) 
-documentation of what was performed

Quality assurance measures for the practitioner may include:
-competency tests
-proficiency tests
-testimony audits
-cv audits

Quality assurance measures for equipment may include:
-regular maintenance

Quality Control Measures
Procedures or tests that control continued performance. A set of activities to evaluate that the 
quality assurance measures are meeting the objectives. Quality control measures can include reviews 
of casework, case audits, testing reagents, maintenance logs, inspections.

Quantitative
Concerned with quantity or quantities.

Quantity
The amount of information contained within a friction ridge impression.
